Armenia Day 2: The Blue Mosque (Iranian)

This mosque is Iranian.  It was desecrated by the Russians during their occupation of Armenia, but later restored by UNESCO.  Language classes are taught here in the afternoons including English, Arabic, and Farsi.

In Shia Islam, these stones are used for prayer, to separate the forehead from the floor with "holy ground".

I am gifted a stone and also this portable prayer mat (tiny red square).

Antique scriptures

The name of the Shia prophet Ali is featured in the yellow design in the center tiles.
